Ryanair, don’t blame a girl from trying:

There is a comment on an earlier post as follows. Let’s help this lady find love. Michael, are you listening?

Dear Mister O’Leary, I was on your flight on 07.05.2006 from Milan Bergamo (9.30) to Brussels Charleroi (10.30) and I want to get in touch with a passenger that I met on the flight.I was too shy to ask for his number and so was he.

Smart on every apartment’s doorstep

I helped some relatives move into a brand new apartment in Dublin on Friday. Who was the first person to greet us? The neighbours? No. The security guard perhaps? Wrong again. No, we were greeted at about 6.30 pm in the evening by the Smart Telecom sales guy. He had somehow found his way into the building past the security. He told us what a good deal Smart Telecom was, and that they would connect the line for free and give us their free broadband deal. He told us that eircom would charge us 120 euros to get connected (which I suspect may have been a little bit of a fib). But there’s no doubt that Smart are offering a good deal.

Blogging about the blogosphere, less quantity, more quality is what we need.

David Weinberger comments on David Sifry’s statistical analysis of the blogosphere. These analyses are full of numbers, but I think people in the ‘old’ blogging industry are failing to look at the fundamental demographic changes that must be lying behind the figures. I’m not talking about more asians, or more europeans – I’m talking about a much more fundamental shift than that.

A free laptop skin for MindCamp 2.0 attendees

I’ve been Sunday-morning-surfing! The most interesting thing going on this weekend (in my opinion) is Dave Winer’s link to MindCamp in Seattle. I like reading about innovative productivity tools like OutlineLab (account by Andre). Dave Winer has put up some photos on Flickr. I enjoy looking at other people’s flip-charts, don’t ask why …

Anyway, here’s my contribution to the pot … if you are an attendee at Mindcamp today (i.e., you are on the list on the MindCamp home page) we at aspoke.com will give you a free skin for you laptop in one of our standard sizes.

laptop skin from aspokeTo get your skin, do the following:

email customerservice -at- aspoke.com OR post a comment here, containing the following details:

for emails, use the subject – mindcamp – free skin

say what you would like on the skin (either a picture, or else the web address or name of one of the skins on the aspoke.com website

what size you would like the skin

17″ screen – 406mm x 295mm
15″ screen – 394mm x 280mm
14″ screen – 360mm x 267mm
12″ 315mm x 261mm

(don’t worry, if the size isn’t quite right, you can trim the skin to size with a sharp knife.)

Also, the web address of your blog, which must have been in existence for at least 3 months (we will check this using technorati.com)

The first 30 people to apply, before 12 midday tomorrow 1 May (Seattle time) will get their free laptop skin.

Obviously, we’d appreciate it if you’d get the word out at Mindcamp, by posting on your blog and spreading the word! (But you don’t *have* to do that!)

Any questions, just ask!

FON in Ireland from Moville to Skibereen

The beta FON maps of Ireland show the growth of FON in the country. Most FON hotspots are in Dublin, but the other cities are there too, and there are also a number outside the cities. It’s also worth checking out the UK map to see the hotspots in Northern Ireland.

The maps are great, but that said, there are quite a few glitches with things placed in the wrong locations. I also know of a few hotspots that are missing. It will get straightened out.

Revised prices, new skins at aspoke.com

With the relaunch of the aspoke.com site, we’ve updated the prices and added new designs (like the one below, which I currently have gracing my laptop – suits my personality, don’t you think?) from the zany to the conservative. What we think we’ve got that’s special: every skin is made specially; the purchase process is quick, simple and secure; a special easy-release strip to make it easy to separate the skin from the backing paper; and an all-inclusive price, no shipping ‘gotchas’.

Now we’re looking for ways to extend our reach.
